Americans like to be liked.  At least, that is what we have been told for decades.  And while it is true to an extent, it is not one hundred percent true.  In fact, the American people will take respect over likability when the occasion calls for it.  Actually, the American people’s desire for respect far exceeds that of their leaders who are, of course, politicians.  We all know that a politician’s political life depends upon his/her “likeability factor.” It is far more important to them to be liked than to be respected.

When Bobby Thomson, the man who hit the most famous homerun in the history of Major League Baseball, died last week it led me to do some thinking.  It led me to think about the circumstances that so improbably brought Thomson and the 1951 New York Giants a National League pennant.  It also led to me to think about how those circumstances affected my father, his family and his neighbors in the Bronx whom were transfixed by what was happening before them.

Having spent time describing the three unalienable rights of life, liberty and property upon which our Republic was founded and from which all others flow it is necessary to speak of the natural responsibilities which form their inverse image.  Peering through the looking glass at original intent we try to make sense of the present wonderland where rights and responsibilities are never what they seem.

As The Obama and his ObamaCourts ratchet up their fight against the US States and We-the-People, the beasts in the White House (aka Obama and Co) continue their fight against America and all humans. In his latest anti-US comments, Obama first supports the Islamist Victory Mosque (and probable terrorist training center), then slightly alters it when the hue and cry from We-the-People becomes too loud for his Marxist minions. Then, The Obama changes his stance--once again--and returns to his original support. When Islam wishes to claim dominance over a people, it builds an elaborate mosque to its god Allah. In his article “Ground Zero Mosque Represents Conquest for Islamic Jihadists,” Justin Quinn correctly writes: “As far back as the Ottoman Empire, Islamic rulers made a habit of converting Christian churches, monasteries and chapels into mosques” and “the proponents of the Ground Zero mosque won’t tell you that the erection of mosques traditionally symbolizes victory over the enemies of Islam.” Note: Obama won’t tell you that, either.

People learn by moving from the known to the unknown.  An analogy inherently proposes the idea that if things agree in some respect they probably agree in others.  Secular prophecy uses knowledge of the past and the present to predict the future.  The past is the womb of the present and the present is the history of the future.  As the past may be interpreted and the present may be misunderstood the future is never certain.  Platitudes may outline the shape of something, but they can never define anything.
